First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

You have two ways to worship with First Christian Church:

Join us for worship in the church sanctuary each Sunday morning at 10am. We continue to practice COVID protocols including:

  • Asking everyone to mask regardless of vaccination status
  • Respecting people's desire for physical distancing (please ask before you sit with someone outside your household or offer a hug or handshake)
  • Sitting in the pews marked with green tape (green means go!) to help with distancing
  • Using self-contained communion which includes bread (note: please ask if you need gluten free) and juice
  • We are sharing music now through singing, but we ask everyone to remain masked

Worship services are aired each week on YouTube. Each Sunday morning at 10am a new worship service will appear on YouTube and can also be viewed, along with services from prior Sundays, from this website on our Sermons page.  You can access our YouTube channel using this link:

There may be times in the future (special occasions, winter weather, etc.) when we again offer Zoom worship.  Watch the newsletter for information.

Some groups and meetings are taking place in person while others continue to happen through Zoom or in a hybrid format. This includes planning meetings, Bible study, and children and youth activities. For more information on activities and ministries, check out the newsletter.  If you would like more information or links to participate, please contact the church.

Office hours during the week are Monday - Thursday, 9am - 12noon and our Office Manager is in during those hours.  Pastoral staff work a combination of at home and at the office.  If you need anything, please call the church or call or email the pastoral staff member directly.

Be well, Pastor Jill

P.S. We have a taskforce that is discussing how we respond to COVID. Many of you have questions, so the taskforce has created a set of Frequently Asked Questions. This is a working document, so you may want to return to this document occasionally for updates.

Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. (Romans 15:7)

At First Christian Church of Iowa City/Coralville, we aspire to share God’s expansive and unconditional love with all, with respect and positive regard for our human differences. It is God’s welcome and is without limitations.

By God’s grace and following Jesus’ example, we invite you to join us in community and communion. We embrace you as a fellow child of God, equally and deeply loved and with full access to the kin-dom that we strive to inhabit. If you are among us, you are one of us.
