We invite all to enjoy a spectacular opportunity to view the Perseid meteor shower on the new moon on August 14. We will be starting with a cookout at 5:30 PM. The church will be providing main dishes to grill and we are asking families to bring a side dish or dessert to share. After we eat we will have a campfire and a great time of fellowship. As it gets dark, we will be able to watch the meteor shower. We will have a few telescopes set up, but extra binoculars or telescopes could be helpful. Astronomers say that because of the new moon a larger number of meteors than normal will be visible so it should be an awesome sight.

This year, we are adding the option of camping out on the church grounds to enjoy the shower deep into the night as well as an opportunity to commune with nature.

Please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a45aaad2ea2f85-perseid so that we can have an accurate count for food.

We look forward to this event. The majesty of God’s creation is spectacular and the combination of little light pollution near the church and the new moon should make the Perseids a spectacular show!
